Walnut inspired October in Vamvakou

Walnut inspired October in Vamvakou

Perched on the slopes of Mount Parnon, the village of Vamvakou dresses up in the yellow and orange colours of October and is waiting for you to live new autumn, walnut-inspired experiences! Nature, cooking, STEM, games, walnuts, arts and the environment get together in Vamvakou in Lakonia, within the framework of the initiative for the revival of the village realized by Vamvakou Revival with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

In an attempt to reveal the secrets of nature, we take hikes and explore autumn, collect and taste the first walnuts of this year’s crop and, along with our families, come up with imaginative structures using walnut shells. The first Sunday of October, join us to attend walnut harvesting and participate in a unique cooking-tasting class with walnuts being the raw material, of course!

This month, V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF) is celebrating its third anniversary and invites children to a water STEM lab in nature to get acquainted with technology and engineering, as well as to a fun autumn robotics lab, where they will have the chance to program their own little robot. And as Mount Parnon is ideal for star gazing, we are waiting for you in the yard of Ruga of Vamvakou Homes for a beautiful starry night.

Come along to discover the autumn treasures of nature in an educational program for children, through the painting of Paul Cezanne and tour the world in two hours, through the books of the school library. Join us to play at the school of the village and take part in a theatre lab drawing from the story by Jorge Bucay “The walnuts”. To close, we say goodbye to October with a hands-on educational program for life on Earth, learning about the importance of its protection as the place hosting humans and getting familiar with the terms of food waste and responsible consumption through theatre play.
