“In February, don’t sow; don’t wed”, just make your way to Vamvakou!

In February, the Carnival month, Vamvakou is inviting everyone to attend a programme of unique activities and events! Every weekend, Vamvakou Revival welcomes its visitors to the school of Vamvakou, from 11:00 to 17:00, aspiring this month as well to be the favourite meeting point for children and grown-ups. Educational programmes, cultural events, innovation labs, virtual reality games, creative play and whatever else comes to mind are all realised within the framework of the initiative for the Revival of Vamvakou, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Virtual Reality, Robotics and 3D Printing
February kicks in with a weekend full of virtual reality! We are inviting you to a VR & Games Open weekend in order to get familiar with Oculus Quest and navigate in three-dimensional worlds via the new Virtual Reality (VR) equipment of V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF). And if you cannot give up videogames even for an excursion on the mountain, then go for Gaming at the PC Lab of the school. The second weekend of the month, the successful Robotics and 3D Printing labs for children return to Vamvakou to offer new adventures!

Life in the village without books… not possible!
The third weekend of February, the new educational programme “Our life in the village once upon a time”, which was launched in January making a striking impression, comes back with a new theme combining folklore, hands-on experience, stories and play. At the same time, we will all together build a “wall of hope” rich in messages, by applying an educational programme by the National Library of Greece.

Carnival and Clean Monday in Vamvakou
Το celebrate the Carnival and Clean Monday three-day holiday, Vamvakou Revival is inviting you to attend an exciting programme of activities and events full of streamers and confetti, disguises, balloons and joy. Join us to experience “Carnival in the woods”, play and have fun in a “School of… masqueraders”, watch the theatre play “The little tailor of words”, as well as to spend Clean Monday with kites, play, constructions, face painting, Lent delicacies and music.

Music meets gastronomy
The music encounters in Voureiko café-restaurant added colour to our Saturday nights, leaving great impressions on visitors and inhabitants. In February, “Grammes” music band will be singing for us «Μια γυναίκα μπορεί» [A woman can] and will be taking us to the world of «Ρεμπέτικο» [Rebetiko] by a «Βόλτα στο Φεγγάρι» [A walk to the moon], while Giorgos Kostianis and Tasos Skiadas are returning with «Ένα πιάνο, μια κιθάρα και μια φωνή» [A piano, a guitar and a voice].

Movies for children
The film screenings for children started in January and are continuing over the weekends of February to present particularly interesting and instructional themes. Through the collaboration of Vamvakou Revival with the Athens International Children’s Film Festival, children will have the chance to enter “A marvelous world” (ages 4 to 6), through “Imagination in everyday life” (ages 7 to 9), and, thus be able, while “Growing up” (ages 10 to 12), to dream of “A better future” (ages 13 to 15). Each theme includes more than 5 short movies and each screening is about 1 hour long.
