We are delighted to invite you to take part in a special three-day event in Vamvakou, dedicated to science, knowledge and discovery, organised in collaboration with the Megisti Puzzle Museum and the Kastellorizo Puzzle Festival, and aimed at elementary, secondary and high school students. Children will have the opportunity to engage in activities in Astronomy, Biology, Mathematics and Physics through presentations, hands-on workshops and creative puzzles that stimulate thinking and imagination.
The programme includes:
11:00-17:00
– Puzzle presentations: The founder of the Megisti Puzzle Museum, mathematician Pantazis Houlis, together with Panagiotis Kalantzis and craftsman Giorgos Pettas, present puzzles through interactive activities, striking constructions and numerous… challenges.
– Solar observation: Using telescopes and specialised solar filters set up in the school courtyard, under the guidance of astrophysicist Dr Kosmas Gazeas, astrophysicist Konstantina Vrontaki, and the “Planets In Your Hand” team from the Department of Physics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
11:00-13:00 | Parallel workshops
– Constellations In Your Hand: A workshop on constructing three-dimensional constellations with interactive exhibits, led by the “Planets In Your Hand” team.
– Join us to see your genetic material: A biology programme on the DNA mechanism, including DNA “extraction” using laboratory equipment, led by the Biostem team.
– Dinosaurs between two mass extinctions: Study of prehistoric fossils under the guidance of geologist Pierros Patoucheas.
– Interactive workshop on the Antikythera Mechanism: Construction and exploration workshop led by molecular biologist Chrysanthi Saliagkopoulou.

– Stand Up Science Kids: Puzzles and science presented through unique stand-up comedy performances for children, making science simple, accessible and entertaining.
– Stand Up Science: Pierros Patoucheas, Chrysanthi Saliagkopoulou, Giorgos Galanopoulos, Konstantinos Antonaropoulos and astrophysicist Kosmas Gazeas deliver engaging, humorous talks on science.
