Could the secret language of trees have been the world’s first natural internet – with roots instead of fiber optics? The theory of the “language of trees”, also known as the “wood wide web”, suggests that forests form communities where trees communicate with one another and exchange nutrients through their roots to maintain a balanced local ecosystem. In this workshop, designed by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), participants will work beside a natural forest to create their own forest installation using recyclable materials, accompanied by the sounds of nature. The aim is to understand the importance of forest preservation and biodiversity through a distinctive artistic experience that combines theoretical knowledge with artistic expression.
