In Greece, today, 220 grape varieties have been identified and exist, out of which 79 are being used for commercial purposes. This number makes our country one of the multi-faceted in varieties in terms of wine production and the Greek vineyard one of the richest in the world. What should consumers know, though?
According to master of wine Giannis Karakasis, there is no need for consumers to know 200, 100 or even 50 varieties; what they need to know is to which categories these varieties belong, something that we will learn at the school of Vamvakou. This will be a marvelous wine journey in Vamvakou, accompanied by the wine specialist Christos Dimitrakakis. We will discuss, taste and get to know the Greek varieties of grapes.
