With children’s laughter, music, dance, poetry, and heartfelt emotion, the first summer fest of Vamvakou’s daily creative play program took place on Monday, July 28, 2025. The space was transformed into a magical… underwater world! Crabs, jellyfish, octopuses, and starfish sprang to life through the children’s imagination, creating a fairytale scene filled with a sea breeze and smiles—at 1,000 meters altitude.
This celebration reaffirmed that our school is not just a place for learning and engagement—it’s a living organism, beating at the heart of the village and symbolizing the tangible Revival of Vamvakou. A place full of strong voices echoing across Mount Parnon’s peaks, creativity, and vision for the future of our villages.
The young students—Angelos, Alexandros, Giorgos, Demosthenis, Kalliopi, Kyriaki, Konstantinos, Melina, and Sofia—proudly presented poems, dances, and songs, under the guidance and care of their teacher, Angeliki Toumpli. Parents, locals, and visitors shared moments of joy, tenderness, and true connection.
This celebration marked the culmination of a rich year, beginning in November 2024 when Vamvakou’s school resumed daily operation through a private initiative—after 16 years—offering a creative engagement program for children aged 2–4. This effort is part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative, implemented by Vamvakou Revival with the support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Since then, children from Vamvakou and Karyes have brought the space to life every day with voices, play, and hope.
Yesterday’s “dive under the sea” was more than just a summer event—it was a reminder that when there is unity, care, and love for our place, the school bell rings not only for lessons, but for dreams, for life, and for the future. We move forward together, with faith in the youngest stars of our community.
