Violin concert by Eirini Krikoni

Violin concert by Eirini Krikoni

School

The sounds of violin will reveal music pieces which narrate stories, recite poems, express thoughts and illustrate images. Eirini Krikoni will present a demanding program of classical music by contemporary composers.

By interpreting the different “identity/language” of every composer, she will offer to the audience of Vamvakou a unique music experience, a palette of rich sound colours and melodic tonalities. She will interpret works of Carola Bauckholt, Malin Bång, Kaija Saariaho, Theofilos Lambrianidis and others.

Eirini Krikoni started her music career at a young age. She completed her undergraduate studies with honours at the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, with a specialization in violin under professor Dimitrios Handrakis. Since 2018, she has been living and performing in Vienna. She is continuing her post-graduate studies in contemporary classical music at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna under professor Annette Bik. Since 2019, she has been a fellow of the Foundation for Education and European Culture, founded by Nicos & Lydia Tricha. She has collaborated and interpreted works of many composers of her generation and has performed in major halls both in Greece and abroad.

As part of the initiative to revive the village of Vamvakou with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Vamvakou Revival and the Greek National Opera (GNO) have joined forces to create a small “hive” of arts and culture in Vamvakou.
