Exactly 20 years ago, Encardia introduced themselves to the public with music and songs from the Greek-speaking regions of the Italian South. They made local traditional dances and their steps known to Greece. Along with them, we danced endlessly; we cried while listening to folk songs about love, foreign lands, work and protest as these have been expressed by the Greek-speaking people of the region; and sang in their local dialect (Grico). This year, the beloved music group closes the Vamvakou Experience Festival, bringing in familiar, nostalgic music and the sound of Southern Italy to Mount Parnon and the Vamvakou Square.
A musical journey ranging from the tarantella of Salento and Naples, the most dynamic dance of the Mediterranean, to Vincenzo Kornaros’ Erotokritos, songs about foreign lands and their well-known froutopia.
A few words about Encardia
