Staring point: Vamvakou-Lakonia, at the village entrance, “Stathmos Sygkiniseos” [Emotion Station]

Right to participate: Individuals over 18 years old, in other words born before 11/06/2005, have the right to participate in the race. Participants must be in good physical condition and need to register via the webpage.

Participation cost: A symbolic fee of 5 Euros applies in order to participate in the race VAMVAKOU MOUNTAIN RUN of 28 km; the total amount collected will be offered for a good cause.

A participation is valid only when registered via the webpage. In case someone wants to cancel his/her participation, he/she is kindly asked to do so via email at run@vamvakourevival.org, so that the place can be opened to others interested in participating.

Registration: Registration is limited to 300 participants for the 28 km race.

Race pack: All registered participants will get a participation (BIB) number and the timing chip, a bag for their personal items, a souvenir T-shirt of the race, a medal award and a light snack at the finish.

Electronic timing: Although the event does not have a competitive profile, electronic timing will apply on the 28 km race.

Cut-off time: 7 hours, 16:30

A unique mountain run will take place on Sunday June, 11 across the slopes of Mount Parnon at Lakonia, with the village of Vamvakou serving as the starting point and finish line. Join us to cross gorges, forest roads and trails, starting from an altitude of 950m. to reach an idyllic mountain setting at 1,600m. after following a route of varied landscape. The sports event is being realised for the third time by Vamvakou Revival, within the framework of the initiative for the revival of the village with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Those interested are invited to register here. A symbolic participation fee of 5 Euros applies; if you would like you have the chance to give more money for the good cause. The amount collected will be provided in order to cover part of the cost of the of the trip of “Northside” robotics team from the 3rd General Vocational Senior High School of Sparti that will represent Greece in the international competition FIRST® LEGO® League Asia Pacific Open Championship, which will take place in Sydney, Australia from June, 30 to July, 2 of 2023.

It must be noted that Vamvakou Mountain Run does not have a competitive profile; instead, its goal is to reward participation, achieve the familiarization of the people with mountain running and spread a sports culture. However, official timing will apply on both races, of 28km and 7km respectively. Moreover, at 13:30, the closing ceremony of the 7km-race will take place where medals will be awarded and then, at 15:30, the closing ceremony of the 28km-race will take place where medals will be awarded.

Awards

During the closing ceremony, medals will be awarded to the first 3 men & women winners of the general rank. Medals will be also awarded to the first winners of each of age categories (18-39, 40-59 & 60+ years), with the best performance in the race of 28km.

2. Logou location, 2^nd km: 1,038 m. altitude

3. Sparti Refuge location: 5^th km: 1,414 m. altitude

3. Forest road (Mandres) location towards Prophitis Ilias: 8^th km: 1,258 m. altitude

4. Prophitis Ilias location: 14.5^th km: 1,645 m. altitude, where runners will be timed with the use of a special floor mat

5. Forest road (Mandres) location towards Profitis Ilias: 17^th km: 1,258 m. altitude

6. Sparti Refuge location: 20,5^th km: 1,414 m. altitude

7. Logou location, 23^rd km: 1,038 m. altitude

8. Agia Kyriaki location, 25^th km: 984 m. altitude

9. Finishing point: 28^th km: 950 m. altitude

*There will be five feed stations set up along the route of the long race, providing participants with water, isotonic drinks, gels, dried nuts, fruit and salt, according to the point of the route. Moreover, water will be given to the runners at the starting and finishing points. At the finishing point, a light meal will be offered to the runners finishing the race.
