Vamvakou’s school is nothing like the routine of everyday life! It is a different kind of school centered on play, for all ages and surrounded by nature, where there are no right or wrong answers – only freedom.
In October, we celebrate Walnut Month with a large sensory-play workshop, where soil, mud and treasures from the forest take center stage. Some walnuts have escaped from Vamvakou’s trees and are eager to meet people and join the fun!
The central focus of the activity is messy, sensory and natural play, without limits or rules. We dig in the soil, mix mud, handle shells, leaves and branches and experiment freely with colors, even painting the walls. We work with natural clay, walnuts and materials from the forest to create a variety of objects, allowing our imagination to create without instructions and exploring their textures, shapes and secrets in whatever way inspires us in the moment.
Every visitor has complete freedom to get messy, paint and express themselves exactly as they wish.
In the school courtyard: Balls, a trampoline, hula hoops, table tennis and a basketball court are waiting for us for some seriously crazy play!
Indoors: LEGO, board games, chess, a library, construction activities, VR & gaming and role-playing games take our creativity to the next level.
Weather permitting, the fun moves straight outside into the courtyard!
