{"id":60390,"date":"2026-07-09T08:10:50","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T08:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vamvakourevival.org\/?page_id=60390"},"modified":"2026-07-09T08:10:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T08:10:50","slug":"what-we-experienced-at-vamvakou-experience-festival-2026-didnt-stay-just-between-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vamvakourevival.org\/en\/what-we-experienced-at-vamvakou-experience-festival-2026-didnt-stay-just-between-us\/","title":{"rendered":"What we experienced at Vamvakou Experience Festival 2026 didn\u2019t stay just between us!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On the weekend of July 4\u20135,\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0once again opened its arms\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0its square, its alleys, its school, and its courtyards, and welcomed\u00a0lovely\u00a0visitors who chose to leave behind the fast pace of everyday life for a while and reconnect with nature, people, tradition, and themselves.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0Experience Festival 2026 featured 14 events over two days, attracting more than 1,400 participants, in a small mountain village on Mount\u00a0Parnonas\u00a0that is being revitalized day by day as part of the\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0Revival\u00a0Initiative, made possible by\u00a0the\u00a0exclusive\u00a0support\u00a0of\u00a0the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Our motto was simple: whatever\u00a0we experience,\u00a0stays\u00a0between\u00a0us. And indeed, the memories and the entire experience will remain. However,\u00a0this\u00a0\u201cbetween\u00a0us\u201d turned out to be much\u00a0greater\u00a0than we had expected.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">So\u00a0what if the weather had its own plans\u00a0on\u00a0Saturday morning?\u00a0So\u00a0what if the rain\u00a0\u201cmixed up\u201d\u00a0our schedule? With a few minor adjustments, all the events went ahead as planned, and we were all there, in the\u00a0best of\u00a0spirits. The activities swept us up in their flow, from gymnastics, somersaults, and handstands with Giorgos Hatziefstathiou and Gymnastic Stars, to Graphic Novel with AI and the Wood Wide Web: the secret language of trees\u00a0by\u00a0the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), all the way to the secrets of home brewing and\u00a0the\u00a0traditional\u00a0\u201ctrahanopata\u201d.\u00a0The square was filled with the aromas of Gogo\u00a0Delogianni\u2019s\u00a0delicious pasta and\u00a0\u201cgalatopita\u201d\u00a0recipes, and the\u00a0roaring laughter brought on by Kostas\u00a0Maliatsis\u2019s\u00a0jokes, while the school filled with people of all ages for the\u00a0most powerful\u00a0and entertaining sing-along with the wonderful Kaiti Garbi and\u00a0Dionysis\u00a0Schinas, who gave it their all on stage!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sunday dawned\u00a0with sunshine\u00a0and welcomed Splash Athens, the\u00a0little instrument makers, the \u201cNyfopazaro\u201d,\u00a0which culminated in an unexpected spectacle starring the village donkey, the\u00a0Lagkadia\u00a0stone\u00a0carvers, and the traditional music performance curated by Lambros Liavas, which brought this beautiful village experience to a perfect close\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0just as summer in the mountains should be.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0just the events and the participation\u00a0that made this festival what it was. It was the plane tree in the middle of the square, under which spontaneous conversations took place. It was parents watching their children discover something for the first time. It was people who\u00a0hadn\u2019t\u00a0heard of\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0before, and who left promising\u00a0they\u2019d\u00a0come back.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">And when we said, \u201cWhatever we experience,\u00a0stays\u00a0between us,\u201d we\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0mean it would remain a secret. We meant an experience that brings us closer and binds us together.
