The event is organized by the non-profit organization\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0Revival\u00a0and is part of the\u00a0Vamvakou\u00a0Revival initiative, implemented with the support of\u00a0the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).\u00a0The goal is to highlight the region\u2019s natural beauty and encourage participation in outdoor activities.\u00a0Runner and coach\u00a0Ioannis Dimopoulos\u00a0is\u00a0overseeing\u00a0the organization and\u00a0providing\u00a0technical guidance for the race.<\/p>\n
With participants traveling from Athens and the Kalamata, the Vamvakou Mountain Run brings runners of all levels to the starting line. Starting from Vamvakou Square at 950 meters, with the route climbing up to 1,900 meters, the mountain challenges you but also rewards you through three courses: 29, 19, and 7 kilometers. The finish line brings you back to the village, where medals, awards, and prize drawings bring the race to a close. Additionally, the race is part of the International Trail Running Association, so you can track your performance if you wish and earn points for your next challenges.<\/p>\n
